Andrew Brewer: SOLOPART
When I first started filming in 2010 Andrew Brewer was the local amateur snowboarder in Tahoe that had “made it” and gone pro. I remember going to the movie premier for “Familia II” and getting a T-shirt signed by him and aspiring to someday get to film and work with someone of his caliber. through hard work and luck eventually I befriended Andrew and we filmed a few times over two seasons. Only a few of my clips made the cut, but nonetheless I was elated to be a part of it. His main sponsor Technine/Cole Taylor then ran a contest for creators to edit his part which I won. I was even more ecstatic to get any kind of stamp of approval from someone like Cole who was my number one inspiration watching snowboard movies growing up.
Editing his part was fun. But filming with him taught me what it looks like to be a professional at something you love. It’s not all fun, sometimes it’s grueling, sometimes it’s painful, sometimes it’s a marathon, sometimes it’s a sprint, but If you keep a smile on your face and a persistent mindset, you can do great work together.
